The GSM Association recommends the use of the Preferred roaming partner file (PLMN) and Forbidden PLMN (FPLMN) files on the SIM card to manage your partnerships. Our RoamWizard solution provides the functionality to control those files depending on subscriber group and current tariff agreements to do roaming steering effectively.

RoomWizard is a SIM-based application which optimizes the selection of the preferred network and optionally subscriptions by the handset. The application can work standalone or be combined with an OTA platform, which offers the ability to download updated lists of preferred networks (PLMN) and roaming subscription when needed.

RoamWizard supports 3 major operating modes:

  • Flixible roaming control by means of RoamWizard client SIM card application;
  • RoamWizard applet with 2 or more subscriptions (partner roaming).

CONTROLLED ROAMING WITH SINGLE IMSI

RoamWizard keeps internally current roaming preferences for the particular subscriber and updates PLMN/FPLMN files during the network registration in the new country. Various subscriber groups may have different roaming preferences. Update of PLMN/FPLMN files by the mobile can be prevented and such updates ignored.Internally stored roaming preferences can be updated by OTA.

CONTROLLED ROAMING WITH 2 OR MORE SUBSCRIPTIONS

This feature makes it possible to activate different subscriptions during the visits in different countries or areas, so called roaming with a partner subscription. Just like in the previous solution PLMN/FPLMN files are updated each time activation in the new country is detected.

Example:

  • Subscription 1 is used to work in the home network and provide local/limited roaming, as example only CAMEL roaming;
  • Subscription 2 is used for broad global roaming using subscription of the partner

ON-CARD MANAGEMENT OF SUBSCRIPTIONS

RoamWizard supports a secure OTA interface to manage subscriptions on (U)SIM-cards including loading, activation and removal of authentication credentials and related parameters: algothims selectors, SMSC, SDN, ADN, PLNM/FPLMN etc.

callback smart

Smart Call is a SIM-based cost optimizer for outgoing calls during roaming which provides various features to control the way how the MO calls are established.

Description

 When a subscriber is abroad, SmartCall makes it possible to set up international calls over his or her home network instead of the more expensive roaming network. Application optimizes roaming costs by guiding subscribers to the most prioritized networks and selecting right method for making a call, either direct dialing or USSD callback. SmartCall increases the roaming revenues in the partner networks and provides better roaming services for subscribers.

Main features:

  • Support for Callback and direct dialing modes based on business rules
  • Triggering by means of USSD or SMS
  • Special rule for CAMEL roaming
  • Sensitive to current network and location
  • Business rules are updatable via OTA
  • Application supports more than 90% of mobiles

Advantages

Operators are able to control better roaming costs, steer the subscribers to the right networks and use the most cost effective methods to establish calls.
