CellSIM Standard M2M


CellSIM M2M is an high-performance authentication token and a secure element solution for M2M applications fully compatible with the most international and industry standards such as ISO, Oracle, Global platform, 3GPP  and ETSI.


 High performance of CellSIM M2M is achieved by means of high-end 32bit microcontrollers as well as implementation of effective data processing and memory management techniques. Java Card API is fully implemented on the native layer to improve overall virtual machine performance.

 In addition, CellSIM M2M provides a high level of customization, configuration tool and software development tools.

 CellSIM M2M implements special software enhancements for machine-to-machine applications such as file and object journaling to extend module lifetime.

Hardware features

CellSIM M2M is built on the ST32 family of secure microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics and supports two main temperature ranges: standard (up to 85°C) and extended (up to 105°C). CellSIM M2M operating system provides versatile configuration features offering for end users memory sizes spanning from 64 Kbytes up to 300 Kbytes for files and applications depending upon the:

● physical memory of the device (memory sizes of 256, 320, 416 and 512 Kbytes of Flash memory);

● specific optional features such as extended OS modules or customer Java Card applets.

ST32 hardware guarantees an endurance of 500 thousand Write/Erase cycles per page at 105°C, provided that in a single 64-Kbyte sector, the limit of 50 million Write/Erase cycles is not exceeded.

In addition to the hardware endurance, the CellSIM M2M OS implements specific features such as journaling of frequently updated memory fields in order to increase endurance as seen by applications up to a minimum level of 2 million Write/Erase cycles. Such endurance feature is available for highly updatable files or java card objects:

  • 2M Erase/Write cycles at 85°C per any frequently updatable field (standard range);
  • 10M Erase/Write cycles any highly updatable field at 105°C (extended range);

Number of Erase/Write cycles can be increased at the cost of additional Flash memory space usage.
