CellSIM M2M Specification

dfn8 small

CellSIM M2M supports several secure MCU families, two main temperature classes: standard class TS (up to 85°C) and extended class TB(up to 105°C). CellSIM M2M fully supports Global Platform requirements, Java Card virtual machine, high-speed OTA download protocols and offers for end users memory sizes spanning from 64 Kbytes up to 300 Kbytes.

Software features

CellSIM M2M fully implements Java Card 2.2.1 and GlobalPlatform 2.1.1 specifications with a number of optional configurable features. The CellSIM operating system was originally designed to fit the 2G and 3G markets and was extended to include modern LTE features.

In addition, CellSIM M2M provides following features:

Authentication Algorithms

COMP128-1, COMP128-2, COMP128-3, Milenage

Over The Air (OTA) file system management, applets management and private application data management are supported through the OTA application which is based on ETSI TS 102 225 and ETSI TS 102 226.

Following operations are supported:

  • File system management include, but are not limited to, network connectivity information and subscription provisioning.
  • Applet management including remote uploads installation and removal of applications without physically accessing the device.

Such operations are performed with a proper minimal security level which is configurable per used OTA RFM or RAM applets.

Java engine of CellSIM M2M makes it possible to run applet applets securely and implement different data processing routines including data collection from the board in which the wireless module is inserted, data encryption or digital signing.

By default, the CellSIM M2M supports main Network Authentication Algorithms for both 2G and 3G network systems: COMP 128-1,2 and 3 and Milenage including such options as Generic Bootstrapping Architecture (GBA).

Regardless of the algorithm, the CellSIM M2M implementation is protected against most security attacks: a counter limits the number of authentication to a MAX-VALUE defined by the customer and HW/SW countermeasures are in place to prevent SPA/DPA attacks to be effective.

Full support of Global Platform requirements makes it possible to do management of applets in the secure way.
