(U)SIM Simulation Kit

(U)SIM simulation and virtualization tools provided by Cellnetrix simplify significantly any card or applet related tests significantly without the need of physical SIM card and mobile terminals or smart card readers.

Software smart card concept

Most testing techniques of smart card applications and telecom services require systematic change of SIM cards in mobile terminals or using real smart cards and readers. Smart cards should be previously properly configured and personalized and normally stored at a single safe location while mobile terminals need to be installed at remote locations.Often SIM card configuration itself or uploaded Java Card applications should be tested and validated in the mobile environment, test suites or only in combination with particular terminals.

  • Virtual SIMs are fully software based, run on PC/laptop and visible as PC/SC CAD or as (U)SIM plug emulator replacing a physical card in the mobile terminal.
  • SIM Profile data with authentication parameters or physical (U)SIM cards can be stored in a single central location.
  • Contact or wireless (U)SIM emulator inserted into a mobile terminal operates as interface device and provides logical application level interface between mobile terminal and software SIM card.
  • When needed any physical card or (U)SIM profile can be allocated for the virtual (U)SIM

Use cases

  • Network availability, quality of service and roaming tests
Owing to distributed architecture and dynamic provisioning Virtual USIM simplifies significantly any network related test without physical SIM cards distribution and insertion into the mobile terminals. No electrical contact or logistic problems.
  • Testing of mobile handset conformance
Embedded tracing feature and support for specific test situation creation makes it possible to simplify significantly conformance testing on logical and application protocol layers
  • (U)SIM profile conformance and testing of new mobile services
Testing of mobiles services and (U)SIM profiles requiring special change of SIM configuration parameters can be done much more easier the with physical SIM.
  • Online testing of SIM-based mobile applications and their compatibility with handsets
Virtual (U)SIM is based on CellSIM OS platform and therefore fully complies to Java Card standards: everything can be tested on the software level fully online with specific operator profile
  • Fast prototyping of various mobile services
SIM profiles and SIM applications Virtual (U)SIM makes it possible to prototype any mobile service or application quickly without special SIM profile or configuration being developed by SIM vendors.
  • Virtual mobile applications
Software (U)SIM can be used in various applications where mobile connectivity without physical SIM cards is required.
